Giveaway!

Yes, I'm going to have a giveaway in honor of 10,000 hits on this blog!!

When I started this blog, it was mainly for me to document my quilting journey along with a little bragging on my grandkids!  I just can't help that--aren't grandchildren the best?!

So after the holidays, I was quite surprised to see that my hits had surpassed the 10,000 mark in a little over a year.  I know lots of other blogs are bigger and do a lot better than that, but I'm talking about my blog.   It's amazing that people visit my little site.  Isn't the internet wonderful?   We all can learn so much from other people.  Sometimes it just fuels me to try something new.  Other times I just love viewing other people's projects.

Best of all, I love the tutorials I find on blogs.  I think quilters are so kind to take the time to help other quilters in this way.  My hope is to do more of these on my own blog.  I sometimes think that everyone knows what I do, but I am realizing that there are new quilters all the time and maybe those people can learn a little from me.

So....back to the important thing--the "giveaway".   The prize will be a surprise and all you have to do is leave a comment about what you would like a tutorial on or maybe what tutorial has helped you most or loved the best.  I would love you to share some of these if you want to leave a website address also.  Let's all learn something from everyone!!

If you want to post this giveaway on your website, feel free to do so!  Oh, and the giveaway date????  Two weeks from today is my son in law's birthday, so it will be easy to remember--January 18th at midnight, CST.   So on the 19th, I'll do that random number thing and post the winner!

Thanks for visiting the QUILT COOKIES!

Linda

  3. Oh I absolutely agree about the grandkids. Just have to hear their names and I have a smile! Congratulations on your 10000 hits! I've just started blogging and love it- probably spending too much time on the computer now :-) I also enjoy tutorials. I am going to be learing hand quilting as a neighbor gave me a very nice frame. So I would like to see tutorials about hand quilting.

  7. I love surprises! Congratulations on the success of your blog. Hard to pick a favorite tutorial, there are so many good ones. I think the one that helped me the most though is this one from Alicia's Attic. It demos how to join the ends of your binding so it looks almost seamless:

  12. Congratulations on reaching 10,000 hits. Fellow bloggers are really amazing. Can we ever have too many tutorials? We can always find that there are many ways to do something. I would really like to see more on applique as I do not do much of that.

    Grandchildren are awesome!

  21. Congratulations on your blog and hits! Blogging is fun and exciting and I love making new friends. I've enjoyed some table runner tutorials this past year (disappearing 9-patch runner) and also have enjoyed participating in a couple of quilt-alongs.

  22. Congratulations on your hit level. I'm new to your blog - will have to browse around a bit. I would like to see a tutorial on double wedding ring quilts. I am about to embark on one (sometime this year) and need some guidance.

  23. Congrats on 10,000. I cannot even imagine that. Just took a look at your fabric doll tutorial (I really liked the fact that you got rid of the tabs by using flannel on the back of the doll). That was really cool. Please enter me in your giveaway.

  27. Contratulations! Would love a tutorial on how to block a quilt so the binding is straight and doesn't "ripple."

  28. My favorite tutorials - right now it's fancy blocks. I like seeing new ways to make and piece blocks...and it makes me brave enough to try new techniques!

  30. At this time my favorite tutorials are about long arm quilting. A while ago it was aprons! Congrats on your numbers!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Congrats on that remarkable number of hits! I do like tutes; I can do alot of things without pictures, but sometimes it just gets me over the hump of timidity to actually try something new. I'd like to learn more about fusible applique for quick wallhangings for different seasons and maybe some purse construction (esp with zippers!). Beading and embellishing quilts too...I can think of so many things I want to try but haven't yet...

  34. Congrats! Any tutorial is such a gift.
I just did a hands-on lesson with my daughter (new quilter!) on Foundation Paper Piecing. She had read up on it but was home for Christmas ...as she said "I need to see it"! Soon had her first block - a jar with a fussy cut frog prince inside :) "Now I have (another) UFO". Told her she had to take - it was counting as HERS.

  35. Congratulations on 10,000 hits. That must be a great feeling for you. I have yet to figure out how to get my own blog up and running. This, of course is probably because I spend more of my day reading all the wonderful blogs and tutorials than learning bloggy type things. LOL
As far as tutorials, yes, I love them. Coming from a new quilter I have to say the more detailed the tutorial is, the better. I like seeing a tutorial that is written for a beginner since that will help everyone. I am a visual learner and love the videos showing how to do things, BUT, I can't print out a video and take that to my machine or cutting table to follow along so if someone does a video tutorial I'd also love to see a step by step tutorial with the same information enabling printing of that. I'm not sure that was much help or what you are looking for.

Tell your son in law Happy Birthday from another January baby. My own birthday is the 10th and then I had twins whose birthdays are on January 15th. Lots of January birthdays in my family. And thank you for the giveaway no matter what it might be.

  44. Well I checked in at the right time. 2011 is proving to be a lucky year so far. Goodness knows I need it. 2010 was horrible, health-wise,financially and otherwise. Anyway, having loved that table runner you did w/the circular attachment, that would be my vote for a tutorial. I love anything that uses our decorative stitches. That's why we pay so much for our machines, we ought to use them.

  48. Congratulations on 10,000 hits... Find it interesting reading different blogs getting idea. Love to do scrap quilts, so would like to see ideas on what to do with them. (I know scrap quilts make good comfort quilts.) Thanks, Robert, in northern Iowa.

  51. Congrats!!!! Wow---10,000 & counting. Regarding tutorial possibilities, I say surprise us :) I fell in love with your posting of the "Plump Ladies" Although it wasn't a tutorial, it was one of my favorite postings. The small quilt group I belong to followed suit & recently made Plump Ladies blocks (I'll forward the pictures as promised). Some of the blocks are quite hilarious! Did I mention the members ages range from a teenager (new member) to ninety-years young. They are a great bunch, and thanks to your site we made our own Plump Ladies. Again, Thanks for sharing, & giving so much of your time!
